Doctrinal Error?

False teaching! Many years ago, I would have said “oh yeah, you mean like the Moonies, or Jim Jones, or? … or? … I know there is a bunch out there “. But doctrinal error in my church? nah, not in the church I go to. I mean, these Pastors are trained to teach the truth of God’s word, right? After all, doesn’t the Bible teach us to respect and listen to these gifted men of God? They just know so much more than I do about the bible, who am I to question them? And when I did get the nerve to ask my esteemed pastor about an apparent contradiction of what he said, he replied that in the original text, that is what it meant. Hmm! I know I’m no dummy, but I don’t know Hebrew or Greek, so I guess I’ll just have to take his word for it. And I am so busy with life you know, with a husband and kids and a house to take care of, so I just read along in the church service and look up the scriptures the pastor says to, and I do “read” the bible at home when I get a chance to, and I pray and thank God for his many blessings and give him my wish list. So…I’m all good, right? Wrong!
I found out that is not good enough. Especially these days, when information is just a click away. We have the responsibility as believers, to “study to show ourselves approved.” To test the spirits, whether they be true or false. The Apostle Paul said to the Colossians, “Take heed lest there shall be anyone that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ:
Col 2:8 (ASV)
We are commanded to study to show ourselves approved!
2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto Yah, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of Yah; 2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; |
Be As A Berean
Act 17:10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

False doctrine
Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of Yah.
2Co 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
2Co 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
2Co 11:12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off the opportunity from them which desire an opportunity; that wherein they boast, they may be found even as we.
2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2Co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Doctrines
I have heard it taught that once a person repents and accepts the Savior, they are guaranteed eternal life, no matter how they live their life.
Is that really true? Most churches teach that "God" is Three in One; The Father, The Son & The Holy Spirit. Three persons, one god. Just who or what is the Holy Spirit, Holy Ghost? Churches use the formula in Matt: 28:19 to baptize. Is that the way the disciples baptized?

Sunday Worship
in part.. |
Christianity claims that the day of worship was changed from the 7th day Sabbath to Sunday, because Christ was resurrected on the 1st day, and Sunday is the 1st day of the 7 day week. Who changed the day of worship, and under what authority? |
